Luke Sayers is embroiled in a lawsuit with estranged wife Catherine (Photo by Graham Denholm/Getty Images)He claimed his account had been hacked and was subsequently cleared of any wrongdoing following an investigation from the AFL Integrity Unit.But, as revealed by theHerald Sun, subpoenas have now been issued by Sayers’ wife Catherine to a number of high-profile individuals as the Supreme Court battle with her ex-Carlton husband rumbles on,Mrs Sayers has filed a defamation lawsuit against the old Carlton chief.Subpoenas have been sent to the AFL, Carlton, league crisis manager Sharon McCrohan, and Mr Sayers’ advisory firm manager, Julie Trainor.The court documents state: “Failure to comply with this subpoena without lawful excuse is a contempt of court and may result in your arrest.”Mrs Sayers’ legal team want the AFL to submit “all written communications (whether on personal or work devices)” between the AFL and “any of its officers and/or agents (including Stephen Meade), and Luke Sayers, or anyone on his behalf relating or referring to” the image in question — which was posted on January 8 2025.Sponsored contentIn addition, “all corespondance and documents” the AFL has obtained through their investigation into the post and subsequent statements to the press have been requested.AFL general manager of corporate affairs McCrohan will have to turn over all correspondence with Mr Sayers stretching back to the day the post went public.02:05What is Freo’s “Wharfie Time”?All of these documents need to be submitted by May 27.The case is poised to resume in the Supreme Court on Monday, and Mr Sayers is planning to transfer the case to the family division of the Federal Court — which would prohibit further reporting.
