After seven years of early mornings, cross-country travel and memorable weather broadcasts, Tim Davies is preparing to leave Channel Nine’s Today show.
The 42-year-old presenter has confirmed his final weather bulletin will air on September 18, 2026, bringing to an end a chapter that has included more than 900 flights and appearances from locations across Australia.
Seven Years With Today
Davies joined Today in 2019 and quickly became a familiar face on the breakfast program.
His role took him across the country, where he delivered weather updates while also introducing viewers to local communities, personalities and causes.
Over the years, his assignments were rarely limited to standing in front of a weather map.
Davies took part in everything from skydiving and bungee jumping to abseiling, racing high-performance vehicles and getting close to sharks and crocodiles.
A Bittersweet Decision
Despite describing his job as one of the best in television, Davies admitted that leaving was an emotional decision.
“People always tell me I’ve got the best job in TV and they’re not wrong,” he said.
He described travelling to new destinations and working alongside some of the country’s leading broadcasters as a privilege, while also highlighting the opportunity to deliver positive stories to viewers.
Why Tim Knew It Was Time
But after years of constant travel, Davies said the demanding schedule had begun to shape what he wanted from the next stage of his life.
The presenter explained that he was ready to step back from life on the road, enjoy the occasional sleep-in and experience a break without a camera crew following along.
He also said the time away would allow him to prepare for whatever comes next.
The decision comes after seven years of what Nine described as effectively “living out of a suitcase.”
Nine Backs His Decision
Director of Morning Television Steven Burling said the network fully supported Davies’ decision to slow down and begin putting down some roots.
Burling praised the presenter for the impact he had made beyond the studio, particularly in regional Australia.
During his time on Today, Davies regularly gave smaller towns and communities a national platform, helping share their people, stories and causes with viewers around the country.
‘Enormous Shoes to Fill’
Burling described Davies as a much-loved member of the Today family and said his departure would leave “enormous shoes to fill.”
He added that both the team and viewers would miss the presenter after his long run on the program.
For Davies, however, the departure is less about turning away from television than finally giving himself room to slow down after years spent constantly moving.
What Happens Next
Davies has not yet revealed exactly what his next professional move will be, saying only that he intends to take a break before preparing for his “next adventure.”
Nine has also yet to announce who will replace him as Today’s weather presenter.
The network confirmed that an announcement regarding his successor will be made in the coming weeks.
