Brooklyn Ross’s last-minute reunion with Kyle Sandilands may not have been as straightforward as it first appeared. Kyle has now hinted at “phone calls” and “legalities” behind the scenes — without revealing exactly what is happening.
Kyle Sandilands has hinted that there may be some behind-the-scenes complications following Brooklyn Ross’s surprise decision to leave ARN and reunite with his former colleague.
Ross, 38, confirmed on Friday that he would join Sandilands’ new independent subscription venture — a dramatic reversal after previously telling KIIS FM listeners he planned to remain with the network.
Now, just days before the new program begins, Sandilands has suggested the move may not have been entirely straightforward.
Kyle hints at complications behind the scenes
In a video shared to Instagram on Saturday, Sandilands confirmed Ross was still expected to appear when the new venture launches on Monday morning.
But he also offered an intriguing glimpse at what may be happening away from the cameras.
Sandilands described the situation as “a bit dicey behind the scenes”, before referring to “a few phone calls” and “a few legalities”.
He did not explain what those legal matters involved or whether they related directly to Ross’s departure from ARN.
Despite that uncertainty, Sandilands said Ross had personally assured him that nothing would prevent him from appearing on Monday.
A sudden change after weeks of saying no
Ross’s move is particularly notable because only around six weeks earlier, he had publicly ruled out following Sandilands into his next broadcasting venture.
At the time, Ross told KIIS FM listeners that while he remained close to Sandilands and wished him well, he intended to stay with KIIS.
That position changed dramatically this week when footage emerged of Ross arriving at Sandilands’ Vaucluse home studio in Sydney.
Sandilands welcomed him as the final member of the reunited team, while Ross joked that they had “cut it fine” ahead of Monday’s launch.
ARN confirms Ross has left
ARN subsequently confirmed Ross’s departure after more than a decade with the company.
In a statement, the network thanked him for his contribution and said plans for its new lineup were already underway, with further announcements to come.
No further details were provided about the circumstances surrounding his exit.
Former colleagues reunite in Kyle’s new studio
Ross is the latest familiar face from Sandilands’ former radio team to join the new operation.
Other former colleagues already involved include Jaimee “Mayo” Blazquez, Alfie Laguzza, Josh Fox, Pedro Cuccovillo Vitola and reporter Mary Madigan.
Madigan had initially been expected to handle news duties before Ross changed his mind, although Sandilands has now indicated the pair will work together in different roles.
During Ross’s first visit to the studio, Sandilands also showed him a golden chair he has reserved for Jackie “O” Henderson should she ever decide to work alongside him again.
Ross admitted that the possibility of another reunion had been part of what made the move appealing.
But with Sandilands now openly acknowledging that things have become “dicey” behind the scenes, the final days before Monday’s launch may be attracting almost as much attention as the reunion itself.
